Although Antonín Dvorák left behind an extensive oeuvre for solo piano, young pianists and less advanced amateurs are usually introduced to the composer's sound world with the same, well-known works. In the shadow of these popular pieces, however, are many other unjustly neglected or even forgotten works which, thanks to their low technical demands, can provide an ideal introduction to Dvorák's piano music.
The editor Tomáš Víšek, himself an excellent pianist, teacher and connoisseur of Dvorák's piano works, has selected appealing compositions from different periods of the composer's career for this album. The collection includes popular, frequently performed pieces - such as the dance miniatures "Two Little Pearls" - as well as almost unknown works such as the untitled "Composition in G major". The pieces are arranged progressively - from short, rather easy pieces to more extensive and somewhat more demanding compositions.
