Description:
With his parodistic piano pieces about all kinds of sea creatures - with the grotesque title "Dried-up Embryos" - composed in the summer of 1913, Satie once again poked fun at himself and the musical world. Bar-less notation, "stories" under the notes and the satirizing of well-known works, including prominently the funeral march from Chopin's Piano Sonata in B flat minor, make the cycle great musical fun.
The Urtext edition, edited true to the sources and according to the latest findings of Satie research, contains translations of all of Satie's French texts, practical turns and practical performance notes by Satie specialist Steffen Schleiermacher as well as an informative preface. The pieces of easy to medium difficulty are ideal as a varied addition to the repertoire for music schools and lessons.
