Description:
With his advanced incidental music from 1891/92, Satie explicitly turned against the French "Wagnérisme", but not in the sense of a parody. Composed on commission from the Rosicrucian and convinced Wagnerian Josephin Peladan, the simple, purely instrumental music runs independently of the dramatic action.
The pioneering Urtext edition of Satie's stage music also includes a previously unevaluated autograph of the Préludes for the first time. In addition, the three popular "Préludes" are reproduced for the first time in their two versions.
Performance notes and a detailed preface introduce this exciting and technically demanding work, with which Satie positioned himself compositionally very early and which he regarded as one of his most important.
