Description:
Debussy does not link his "12 Préludes" of the first volume by a tonal scheme, but by a chain of associative mottos or titles which he leaves at the end of each piece and which may give an indication of their overriding poetic content.
In his Urtext edition, musicologist Thomas Kabisch, who is very familiar with Debussy's piano music, presents an up-to-date and reliably edited Urtext based on the latest research findings.
Transparent notation, practical turnarounds and a fingering that traces the lines and sound formation by the experienced pedagogue Martin Widmaier, Professor of Piano at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf, supplemented by special fingering studies that reveal the chordal texture, create the necessary conditions for studying these works.
