Description:

Schubert composed his great A major Sonata a few months before his early death in 1828. With its balance of lyrical melody, intimate feeling and pianistic brilliance, not least thanks to its poetic "Andantino", it is regarded as the highlight of his sonata oeuvre.

The critical-practical edition by Walburga Litschauer presents the work in the Urtext of the "New Schubert Edition", which is based on the autograph. A new preface, valuable notes on performance practice and a critical commentary, which provides information on interpretationally interesting readings and questions of Schubert's accent writing, complete this Urtext edition. Schubert's sketches for the A major Sonata are available on the Bärenreiter homepage.
