Description:
It was not until 1814, five years after the Sonata op. 81a ("Les Adieux"), that Beethoven composed a new work in this genre at the height of his popularity during the Congress of Vienna. The extremely lyrical Sonata in E minor op. 90 is also very suitable for advanced piano lessons due to its technically moderate demands. It is the last of his middle creative period. Beethoven prefaced the two movements exclusively with German tempo instructions and dedicated the work to his piano-playing friend and patron Moritz Graf von Lichnowsky.
