Description:
Composed in London towards the end of 1824, this duet is one of the few chamber music works by Rossini that is still regularly performed today. It is an easy and charming composition, but requires experienced artists. In the 19th century, the piece was frequently played by the double bass virtuoso Domenico Dragonetti ("Il drago " [The Dragon] or "Paganini of the double bass") and we know that Rossini knew Dragonetti and consulted him on the instrument. This edition is based on the first volume of the new Bärenreiter edition "Works of Gioachino Rossini". It is currently the only edition available that is based on Rossini's autograph and not on the first edition. - Urtext of the "Works of Gioachino Rossini" - First critical edition of the work - Score with individual parts - With preface (German/English/Italian) and critical report (English)
