Description:
Erwin Schulhoff’s "Five Pieces for String Quartet" is among the most fascinating and vibrant works of early 20th-century modernism. With a captivating blend of rhythmic sophistication, dance-like wit, and expressionistic passion, the composer unfolds a richly colored kaleidoscope for string quartet (2 violins, viola, and cello). From fiery tangos to dazzling rhythmic energy, this masterpiece delights performers and audiences alike.
This new edition from B-Note Musikverlag, published as a practical set of parts, features a remarkable extra: it includes piece No. 6 ("Alla Napoletana"), which Schulhoff originally withdrew from the cycle shortly before the premiere. An indispensable and inspiring addition to any ambitious chamber music repertoire!
