Description:
The String Quintet in C, written in 1811, is Schubert's only quintet with two violas, and for a long time stood in the shadow of his late chamber music masterpiece, the Quintet in C - D 956.
In contrast to earlier editions, Schubert's original articulation and bowing are reproduced; for example, signs previously erroneously interpreted as diminuendo angles are replaced by accents.
The result of this new interpretation is a refreshing transparency. The numerous variants between the autograph score and the autograph parts are indicated for the first time in a clear and executable manner in the form of ossia passages in the parts.
