Description:
Christopher Hogwood's new edition of Elgar's popular Serenade is the first scholarly-critical edition of this work. As with other compositions by Elgar, the previous editions of the Serenade are notable for the large number of discrepancies and inconsistencies between score and parts as well as ambiguities in 'divisi' and 'unison' passages. The editor has eliminated these discrepancies, not least on the basis of Elgar's version of the work for piano four hands - the original version - and the recently discovered autograph score of the first movement. The edition is further enriched by a facsimile page reproducing the original ending of the third movement, as well as an informative preface and a critical report. - First Urtext edition of the popular work for string orchestra - With facsimile pages ?á
