Description:
With the publication of this volume, the string quartets are available in their entirety in part editions with the Urtext of the New Schubert Edition. The string quartets contained here date from the years 1813-1816 and bear witness to the stylistic independence that Schubert had already achieved at a young age. These works are characterized by an increasingly confident handling of the string quartet as an ensemble. They hardly have the character of occasional compositions that characterized the early quartets. Instead, they contain highlights from Franz Schubert's early chamber music oeuvre.
