Description:
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's works for cello and piano occupy an important place in the cello and chamber music repertoire. The lyrical "Lied ohne Worte" ("Romance sans paroles") is one of the most popular teaching pieces.
Mendelssohn's relationship with the most prominent cellists of his time inspired him to compose for the instrument. The editor R. Larry Todd composed the cello part for the variations and also completed the graceful "Assai tranquillo".
This unique Urtext edition thus contains all of Mendelssohn's completed works for cello and piano as well as reconstructions and completions of all unfinished works for this instrumentation (BA 9096/BA 9097).
