Leos Janacek only wrote two works for cello and piano. Of these, only Pohadka (Fairy Tale) was able to establish itself in concert life. Although it is artistically complete, the composer did not want to have it printed. The genesis of the work is long and complicated. Janacek began composing it before 1910, but the fairy tale only took its final form after a series of corrections in 1923. The second composition, the Presto , is an unfinished work. Only a sketch exists, which Janacek did not elaborate on. Janacek himself changed the original title Allegro to Presto. The piece was then discussed under this name in more recent Janacek literature. - Urtext of the Janacek Complete Edition - All accessible sources taken into account - Detailed new foreword by Jirí Zahradka ( Czech/English/German)
