Description:
Please also see the German edition of this booklet: BA 9684.
The fourth volume expands position playing, introduces new stroke types and practises these on scales in all keys as well as on classical duets with a steadily increasing level of difficulty. Three-part chords, harmonics and further ornaments (mordent, pre- and post-stroke, double-stroke) complete the technical reservoir.
The pupils have now reached a level of technical and interpretative proficiency that enables them to make their first forays into concert literature parallel to the fourth booklet: Violin concertos arranged for viola by Rieding and Seitz, which are published in the series "Bärenreiter's Concert Pieces" by Kurt Sassmannshaus as an ideal continuation of the Sassmannshaus school, as well as, for example, the original compositions and arrangements contained in the collection "Konzertstücke für Bratsche und Klavier" (BA 9697) can now be mastered and build a bridge to the demanding standard repertoire for the viola.
The author
The school "Early Beginnings on the Viola" (Das Standardwerk für junge Streicher), published in 1976 by Egon Saßmannshaus, one of the most experienced and renowned violin teachers in Germany, quickly became the most popular and best-selling school for beginners of viola playing in the German-speaking world.
"Der Saßmannshaus" is one of the most thorough and well thought-out viola schools for beginners worldwide.
