Paganini's 24 'Capricci' form a coherent group of works that demands the highest technical standards. This scholarly-critical edition is based on the autograph and early printings by various European publishers. The original bowings and articulation markings have been retained, making the edition stand out from the many editions of the last 200 years, which include markings and alterations by famous virtuosos.
In addition, the 24 'Contradanze Inglesi' for solo violin are published for the first time. The simple pieces each comprise 16 bars, are dedicated to different techniques and represent a great enrichment of the repertoire for solo violin.
The generously typeset edition with numerous fold-out pages leaves plenty of space for personal fingerings and line markings. A historical introduction in English and German deals with the genesis of the works and their influence on violin virtuosos. A description of the sources and the critical report complete the edition.
