Masterpiece of Romantic concerto literature

Antonín Dvorák composed the violin concerto between 1879 and 1882. Joseph Joachim had a significant influence during the compositional period. The concerto was published by Fritz Simrock in Berlin in 1883. The soloist at the premiere, which took place in October of the same year, was František Ondrícek.

The new Urtext edition is based on the first edition (score, solo part, piano reduction, orchestral parts) and also takes into account Dvorák's autograph, which served as the model for the print.
A new evaluation of the autograph has made it possible to reconstruct some variants that were already ignored in the first printing and in subsequent editions and to clarify ambiguities in the notation and articulation.
The first Urtext edition of the original piano reduction, which was probably written by Antonín Dvorák himself, also forms part of the edition. The original fingerings by Joseph Joachim are printed in the piano reduction for documentation purposes.

- First Urtext edition of the original piano reduction
- Variants of the solo part as ossia
- Preface (German/German/English) on the genesis of the work and detailed critical report (English) by the editor
