Description:
Bach used one or two solo violins in most of his sacred vocal works. But although these compositions have a firm place in the musical life of our time, the solo passages and movements they contain are generally not treated as a fully-fledged part of the violin repertoire, neither in violin training nor in practice. The present collection is intended to serve the violinist as a study edition and at the same time as a performance part, offering both a reliable musical text based on the Urtext of the "New Bach Edition" (NBA) and all the information necessary for the musical interpretation of the text, so that the violinist can do justice to the difficult and complex tasks involved in interpreting Bach's violin solos.
The edition, richly annotated with fingerings and articulation markings, contains not only the violin part but also the vocal part for each movement.
