Bach’s cantatas occupy a significant place in his overall body of work. They have gained immense popularity in recent decades and have become part of the repertoire of many singers. Vocal pedagogue Charlotte Lehmann has selected characteristic arias from Bach’s cantatas for the four voice parts—soprano, alto, tenor, and bass—and provided them with extensive teaching notes: Each volume includes a detailed supplementary booklet (in German or English). In addition to preparatory exercises for the cantatas, it contains the background information necessary for rehearsal and explains technical, stylistic, and performance-related issues.
