Description:
The "In paradisum" draws a vision of eternal life with comforting images. Composers such as Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Duruflé each end their Requiem with it. In my composition in the minimal music style, I only use minor chords. Each four-bar phrase uses four chords with a spacing of minor thirds. From time to time, they move a semitone higher. In the organ writing as a quiet "perpetuum mobile" of chord breaks, up to three-part chords, melodious lines and rhythmic motifs can be heard in the pedal. The soprano sings the text meditatively phrase by phrase. A recording of the work is available on the YouTube channel of the Friedenskirche Düsseldorf. (Andreas Petersen)
