Description:
In 1768, the twelve-year-old Mozart wrote an opera for the "Wienner Theater". The subject matter was the brilliant dramma gioeoso "La finta semplice" by Carlo Goldoni (1707-1794), revised by Marco Coitellini (1719-1777). However, intrigues initially prevented a performance; the work was probably performed in Salzburg on May 1, 1769. At the singers' request, Mozart composed at least aria no. 5 twice and rewrote several aria endings. The second version of aria no. 23 and the reworking of aria no. 25 date from 1769. Both versions are reproduced in the piano reduction.
