Even less experienced instrumentalists can actively participate in the Schubert anniversary year thanks to the editions "Schubert Dances" for three clarinets or the edition for three flutes. In addition to his songs, symphonies and sonatas, Franz Schubert also wrote numerous dances that can be described as light music. Their character ranges from exuberant joie de vivre and playfulness to melancholy, romantic depth of expression.

These pieces are occasional works that were mostly written spontaneously in a convivial gathering, which is confirmed by the statement of a friend of Franz Schubert: Schubert "sometimes attended house balls in intimate family circles; he never danced, but was always ready to sit down at the piano, where he improvised the most beautiful waltzes for hours; those he liked he repeated in order to keep them and write them down in succession" The arrangements for three clarinets or three flutes correspond to the character of the music, as the sound of these instruments is particularly well suited to the music of the early Romantic period.
