Description:
Solo concerto for recorder and symphony orchestra
What recorder player has not dreamed of being able to play as a soloist with a large symphony orchestra? Unfortunately, there has never been a work of this kind until now, but now the successful French-Swiss composer
Rodolphe Schacher
has written a work for this very instrumentation in collaboration with the recorder soloist
Maurice Steger
.
In the nine movements, virtuoso and dance-like parts alternate with expressive, emotionally charged sections. The tonal language oscillates between classical and romantic.
Piano version
As an equal alternative, the composer also wrote a version of the work for recorders and piano, and it is in this version that the work is published here. The piano part is decidedly pianistic, not too difficult and provided with fingerings.
Play-along CD
On the CD, which is included with every booklet, the work is recorded in an exemplary version with Maurice Steger as soloist and the Musikkollegium Winterthur. However, every recorder player can also perform the work at home, as the orchestral part is also included on the CD as a play-along version (i.e. without recorder). And for practicing, the accompaniment is also recorded in a slow tempo with piano.
Contents of the CD at a glance:
1. complete work with recorder (Maurice Steger) and symphony orchestra
2. play along medium tempo (symphony orchestra)
3. play along (slow tempo (piano)
