After publishing the Adolphe Sax album, devoted to early solos from the time of Adolphe Sax, this second volume proposes a similar approach and traces the path of the saxophone from its origin in the 1840s to the beginning of the 20th century.
In addition to being able to read the scores, this work provides an indispensable pedagogical tool for expanding knowledge about Sax's instrument well before it gained popularity through jazz, pop, etc. Saxophonists, professors, students, musicologists and saxophone lovers in general will be interested in the various solos, rare or even unknown melodies, characteristic of typical writing for the instrument, and how composers used it in relation to the musicological, historical, and esthetic context of the period.
