Description:
Léon Boëllmann called his collection of one hundred late Romantic miniatures for organ or harmonium "Heures mystiques", which appeared in print in 1896. Boëllmann wrote these short, easy-to-play pieces primarily for liturgical use. The cantabile and at the same time dance-like Allegro was composed as an organ piece for the Offertory during the celebration of mass. In the present instrumentation, it is of course also suitable as a "neutral" concertante gem, whether as a cheerful opening piece, a lively intermezzo or a lively program finale. (Annette Kutzer)
