Die erste Variation (Allegro. Grazioso) diminuiert das Thema, die zweite rückt das Edle des Goldstrahls ins rechte Licht (Andantino. Affetuoso). Ein furioses Presto schließt das Stück - und ermöglicht es dem Saxophonisten, auch das Virtuose ins gebührende Licht zu setzen. (Christoph Dohr)
