The six pieces for trumpet and organ presented here, spanning three centuries, are intended for use in worship services and concerts.
The collection opens with a piece by a female composer: the American Emma Louise Ashford (1850–1930). Her Fanfare in G minor is enriched with an added trumpet part that emphasizes the composition’s festive, signal-like character. The same applies to the Allegro from the first Water Music Suite by George Frideric Handel.
The Englishman Frederick Scotson Clark (1840–1883) was an organist, composer, and clergyman. His more than 500 compositions include numerous marches for organ. The present *Marche Anglaise* features a trumpet part, which further enhances the piece’s impact.
"Marchia Tempesta di mare" (Storm at Sea) is by an unknown 18th-century Venetian composer. The work can be found in the volume "Musiche per gli organi della serenissima," edited by Maurizio Machella. The added trumpet part accentuates the march-like character.
The two chorale arrangements are particularly well-suited as preludes for church services. In "Nun danket alle Gott," the melody is based on the later version. In "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" by Friedrich Christian Mohrheim (1719–1780), the trumpet takes on the cantus firmus.
The edition includes a trumpet part in B-flat and in C.
