Description:
In his Christmas motet 'Hodie Christus natus est' Schütz employs the full mastery of his madrigalian musical language and exploits all the sonorous richness which the six part scoring offers him. The choral groups alternate in singing the greeting of peace 'pax' to each other, the alleluia scales continue playfully and with sophistication, continually crossing. A work which is well-suited to church and chamber choirs, and will be a joy to sing at Christmas time.
