Description:
Immediately after his first opera, Rheinberger composed a short dramatic cantata for children's voices in 1863. It is based on a story from the Gospel of Mark. The highlights of the cantata, including the revival scene in the choral recitative with an expressive piano part and the large final chorus "Praise the Lord loudly", made the cantata very popular with boys' and school choirs at the time. Rheinberger later even arranged it for small orchestra. The cantata can be used in many ways during the church year.
