Description:
Die neun kurzen Gesänge von Schuberts 'Deutscher Messe' (1827) zählen nicht nur zu den bekanntesten und auch von Laienchören am häufigsten aufgeführten Kirchenwerken des Komponisten, sondern wurden sogar in den Österreich-Teil des 'Gotteslob' aufgenommen (Nr. 802). Diese ungewöhnliche Popularität und Wertschätzung gründet einmal in der ansprechenden deutschen Textversion (von Johann Philipp Neumann) gegenüber der offiziellen lateinischen, zum anderen in dem schlichten liedhaften Charakter der Musik. Die Herausgeberin Salome Reiser geht in ihrer Neuausgabe auf das Autograph der Zweitfassung der Messe zurück, die gegenüber der nur mit Orgel begleiteten Erstversion 15 akkordische Harmoniestimmen hinzufügt, die dem eingängigen Werk erst sein spezifisches Timbre verleihen.
