Description:
The three great motets Quam dilecta, In convertendo and Deus noster refugium, which Jean-Philippe Rameau composed between 1713 and 1715, have remained relatively unknown to this day. And yet these motets are masterpieces that can easily stand comparison with the best works of Michel-Richard de Lalande. They are a testimony to Rameau's great contrapuntal mastery and contain beautiful lyrical passages. Quam dilecta and Deus noster refugium have only survived in late sources, which were written after Rameau's death around 1770 and reproduce the works in an instrumentation that no longer corresponds to Rameau's intentions. This new edition attempts for the first time to reconstruct the original form of the motets as far as possible. For In convertendo, it was possible to draw on Rameau's autograph from 1751.
