Description:
Two complete Requiem settings by Johann Adolf Hasse have survived. Hasse composed the C major Requiem for the Saxon Elector Friedrich August II. Only a few weeks later, his son Elector Friedrich Christian also died. Hasse probably wrote the Requiem in E flat for this occasion and, due to the haste, took the Sanctus and Agnus from an earlier Requiem in B flat major. The main parts Introitus/Kyrie and Dies irae most probably date from 1763 and 1764.
