The cantata "Ein Herz, das seinen Jesum lebend weiß" for the 3rd Easter in 1724 is one of the older cantatas that Bach integrated into his first Leipzig cantata cycle; it was originally composed in Köthen as a secular cantata for the New Year's festival in 1719 (BWV 134a). Virtuoso, lively arias and a magnificent, extended final chorus with dialog sections not only underline the festive character of the cantata, but also lend it a special charm.
