Description:
The Oratorio de NoÙl, opus 112 was composed in 1858 and is one of the four oratorios he wrote. It is scored for five soloists (soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, tenor and baritone) four-part mixed choir, strings, harp and organ. The language of this early work is a gentle and classical style a la Mendelssohn.Tollite hostias is the last of ten movements in the Oratorio de NoÙl. The text is taken from Psalm 95 and the choral writing is strikingly simple. This transcription may be performed without the choir parts. (Choir ad. Lib and Concert Band)
