Description:
The oratorio "Abraham's Sacrifice" features four soloists (and no choir). The orchestra consists of two violins, viola and basso continuo, there is a four-movement sinfonia before the second part, with obbligato arciliuto (a long-necked 14-course lute with double strings), also arias with obbligato instruments and preceding recitatives.
Little is known about her; she was probably the wife of the court musician Francesco Rossi. It is also possible that she was related to the Roman composer Luigi Rossi, whose star castrato Atto Melani not only sang the role of Orfeo in Rome and Paris, but also worked as a spy for the French court. Melani, in turn, was in Vienna at the same time as Camilla. Camilla de Rossi left behind four oratorios of exceptional melodic beauty.
