For a long time, I had been toying with the idea of delving into J.S. Bach’s three-part Sinfonias—the brilliant, intricate siblings to the famous two-part Inventions—and arranging them for a C solo instrument and guitar.
The selection curated for this volume focuses on pieces chosen for their natural fluidity and approachable key signatures, ensuring the music sits as comfortably on the guitar fretboard as it does under a keyboardist's fingers.
With the sole exception of Sinfonia No. 9, which has been transposed from its original F minor to a guitar-friendly E minor, all of the sinfonias in this collection are preserved in their original keys.
