Description:
The Concerto in B flat major, BWV 972 by Johann Sebastian Bach is an arrangement of a concerto by Antonio Vivaldi and bears witness to Bach's great admiration for the Italian master. Composed during his early Weimar period, the work clearly shows the influence of the Italian concerto style on the work of the German composer. The clear three-movement form and the lively alternation between brilliant and more lyrical sections are particularly characteristic. In this arrangement by Jérôme Naulais, the contrapuntal sophistication and rhythmic energy of Bach's music come into their own. The musical lines interweave with great elegance and allow the vitality and delicacy of the Baroque style to emerge clearly. This arrangement enables a new discovery of this inspired composition, in which virtuosity, balance and expressiveness merge into a lively musical dialog.
