Hertel composed the Concerto in D Major in 1749, at the age of twenty-one. The buoyant and cheerful musical language displays characteristics of the gallant style and is similar to the works of Johann Joachim Quantz and Antonio Vivaldi. This first edition is based on the autograph in Brussels.
