Description:
The previous first-edition editions of Caldara's works by Butz Verlag have met with a great response and have aroused curiosity about the as yet unpublished treasures from the pen of this cosmopolitan of the Baroque period. His setting of Psalm 122, which is presented here for the first time, is also a festive, beautiful and at the same time very practical work: the slightly contrapuntal movement for soloists and choir gives apt expression to the joy of the text. In addition, there is a "Viennese Church Trio" of two violins and violoncello (supported by the basso continuo), which frames the voices of the singers with playful figures. Loosened up solo verses, alternating with short choir interjections, lead into a festive "Gloria Patri", with which the beautiful work ends. A real recommendation for all choirs looking for a festive motet for church services and concerts.
