Description:
With "Membra Jesu Nostri", Dietrich Buxtehude created one of the most poignant and intimate masterpieces of Baroque Passion music in 1680. This unique cycle of seven sacred cantatas offers a meditative reflection on the limbs of the crucified Christ, unfolding a deeply moving expressive power filled with solace and devotion. This high-quality full score from Edition Merseburger presents the work in both Latin and German. Scored for five vocal soloists (2 sopranos, alto, tenor, bass), 5-part mixed choir, strings, and basso continuo, it offers ensembles an incomparable sonic variety and emotional depth. Whether for the Passion season or a sophisticated concert program, this edition is an indispensable resource for conductors and musicians seeking to bring Buxtehude’s masterpiece to life with stylistic authenticity and baroque splendor.
