Description:
Composed in 1680, Dietrich Buxtehude's masterpiece 'Membra Jesu Nostri' stands as one of the most deeply moving Passion settings of the Baroque era. Across seven intimate cantatas, the cycle meditates on the limbs of the crucified Christ, creating an atmosphere of profound spiritual depth and expressive beauty. This practical edition from Edition Merseburger provides the dedicated instrumental parts for Viola 1 and Viola 2. In dialogue with the soloists (SSATB), five-part mixed choir, strings, and basso continuo, the violas form the warm, resonant core of the ensemble. Complete with Latin and German text references, this sheet music edition is an essential foundation for ensembles, chamber orchestras, and choirs seeking to present this timeless Baroque gem with authenticity and emotional resonance.
