Description:
Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto is the only one for which no authentic manuscript of the solo part has survived. The autograph score has survived, although articulation, dynamic and pedal markings are almost completely missing.
The composer took great care with the first printing of the solo part in 1804, however; corrections to the engraving plates testify to how precisely Beethoven placed slurs and pedal markings, always striving for consistency and clarity.
Through intensive study of the sources, the present edition has been able to make numerous corrections to articulation, dynamics and notes; the orchestral parts in particular have been corrected for the first time since Beethoven's lifetime and freed from incorrect notes.
