The Carus program on Dresden court music continues with the first edition of one of the great masses (No. 9, D major) by Johann David Heinichen, the most important musical representative of the Saxon metropolis alongside Hasse and Zelenka. A special feature of the work is that Heinichen inserted a veritable concert movement for solo flute, 2 oboes, strings and bc between the "Gloria" and "Credo", which also recommends the mass for concert performance.
