Description:
The concerto (QV 5: Anh. 14) by Johann Joachim Quantz demonstrates the fine elegance of the gallant style of the mid-18th century. Quantz, a virtuoso flautist and one of the most important music theorists of his time, unfolds a clear, graceful and surprisingly modern musical language in this work. Although the concerto has long been overshadowed, it reveals a rich melodic invention and a remarkable mastery of concertante form. In this arrangement, Colette Mourey emphasizes the purity of the melodic lines and the suppleness of Quantz's musical discourse. Her arrangement remains faithful to the original spirit and at the same time lends new accents to the contrasts, the musical breaths and the subtle interplay of the work. The result is a renewed sound palette with a subtle expressive dynamic that harmonizes well with today's aesthetic sensibilities. This version invites you to rediscover a captivating side of the late baroque repertoire - in a balanced interplay of measured virtuosity and radiant lyricism. An elegant homage to Quantz and a gateway to one of the most inspired areas of his oeuvre.
