Description:
Karl Hoyer (1891-1936), a highly esteemed pupil of Max Reger and Thomaskantor Karl Straube, was a professor at the famous Leipzig Institute of Church Music.
After his chorale preludes op. 57 were only available in libraries or antiquarian bookshops, volume II of the four-volume edition has now been published. Formal variety, practicable brevity and moderate technical requirements characterize the works from the period of transition between late Romanticism and the organ movement, which were well known among organists during Hoyer's lifetime.
Compared to the first edition, the keys have been adapted to those of the "Evangelisches Gesangbuch" and the "Gotteslob". Practical indexes (analogous to "EG" and "Gotteslob") are included with each volume.
