Description:
Hardly any piano cycle exerts such a magical attraction as Chopin's 24 "Préludes" published in 1839. Schumann described them as "sketches, the beginnings of etudes, [...] ruins, individual eagle's feathers, everything colorful and wildly mixed up".
Christoph Flamm subjects the sources to a critical re-examination and in doing so arrives at new interpretations of the well-known musical text. Two-time ECHO prize-winner and fortepiano specialist Hardy Rittner, who has recorded Brahms' piano works and all of Chopin's etudes on original pianofortes of the time, complements Chopin's fingering from a historically informed perspective and provides valuable practical performance advice, particularly on pedal, rubato, latent polyphony, legato and Chopin's conception of sound.
Aesthetically convincing musical graphics and practical turnarounds make this current edition indispensable.
