Although the sources for Beethoven's Piano Concerto op. 19 are generally known, the present edition has eliminated numerous misunderstandings and misinterpretations.
To this day, no edition of the work is based exclusively on authentic sources; rather, other editions are strongly oriented towards earlier editions, such as the old Beethoven Complete Edition, which in turn did not exclusively consider authentic sources.

Jonathan Del Mar's scholarly-critical edition corrects misreadings of Beethoven's autograph that can already be found in the first edition and have since been adopted in other editions of the work.
