There has been much debate about the significance of Liszt's late piano pieces. On the one hand, they are regarded as harbingers of the ageing Liszt's fading inspiration; on the other, they are praised as visionary pieces due to their radical simplicity and harmonically bold musical language. This collection includes some of the most characteristic pieces of Liszt's late style, which are particularly suitable for piano lessons due to their moderate level of difficulty. The editor draws on little-noticed sources and describes the origin and source situation of the pieces in the preface.
