An early start on the cello. The large cello makes a lasting impression on many young children, often leading to a lifelong bond. The "Saßmannshaus for cello" was developed so that appropriate progress can also be made musically and in terms of playing technique: The Early Beginning on the Cello transfers principles and experiences from the violin school and ensures early success on this special instrument. The Saßmannshaus schools convince through the finely tuned structure of the learning and practicing content. After the introduction with blank pages and the simplest note values, the "Rufterz" follows as the basic interval. Within the first volume (BA 9691), all fingers are used with children's songs in note values from whole notes to quavers. Simple exercises are also textured so that the vocal aspect can be emphasized and the melodies can be perceived as a whole. The second volume (BA 9692) offers two-part classical pieces. It introduces dotted notes, semiquavers and first double stops as well as alternating high and low finger positions. The volume is ground-breaking with the introduction of early position playing in pieces that have already been learned. The third part (BA 9693) focuses on duet playing in various time signatures and keys. Familiar fingering patterns and bow strokes are practiced and developed. Finally, the fourth volume (BA 9694) expands position playing, introduces new types of bowing and practises these in increasingly demanding classical duos. The schools have always been a reliable guide for the teacher and offer a wide range of material for pupils. The authors Egon Saßmannshaus has created the standard work for young string players with his school work "Early Beginnings" ... for violin, viola and cello. His many years of experience as a violin teacher have been incorporated into this work. His five children have also made music their life's work. His son Kurt Saßmannshaus has made a name for himself as a violin teacher, chamber musician and conductor after studying in Cologne, the USA and China. Together with his siblings, he played a key role in the new edition of the Saßmannshaus Schools. Together with his father, he is the author of the English edition.
