Otakar Ševcík's Opus 2 is one of the most relevant works of pedagogical literature for violin. It focuses on the fundamental problems of right-hand technique, which Ševcík trains in systematically organized 4,000 variations of all bow strokes. This famous method for practicing the right hand is still used today and is also appreciated by players of other string instruments. The prominent cellist Tomáš Jamník has taken the differences to the violin into account in his adaptation of the "School of Bowing Technique" for cello. He transcribes individual exercises for the cello without losing Ševcík's original pedagogical intention. As a result, this edition differs significantly from the only known arrangement of this opus for cello by Louis R. Feuillard.
