Description:
Otakar Ševcík’s Opus 2 is one of the seminal works in the pedagogical literature for violin. It focuses on the fundamental issues of right-hand technique, which Ševcík teaches through 4,000 systematically organized variations of all bow strokes. This famous method for right-hand practice is still used today and is also valued by players of other string instruments. The prominent cellist Tomáš Jamník has taken the differences from the violin into account in his arrangement of the "School of Bowing Technique" for cello. He transcribes individual exercises for the cello without losing Ševčík’s original pedagogical intent. This distinguishes this edition significantly from the only other known adaptation of this work for cello, by Louis R. Feuillard.
